Team Jerseys & Spirit Wear: A Coach's Guide to Ordering Without the Headache

TeamsHow-To

Every season, coaches and team parents inherit the same thankless job: getting everyone a jersey, on time, in the right size, without blowing the budget. Here's how to make it painless.

Start three weeks before you need them

Standard turnaround on a team order is usually 7–10 business days after art approval. Add time for collecting sizes, a proof revision, and shipping, and three weeks is the comfortable window. Two weeks is doable. One week is rush-fee territory — possible, but why pay extra?

Names and numbers: how personalization works

Jersey names and numbers are done in heat-pressed vinyl — each player gets their own number, or their own name and number, without the team paying for custom setups per kid. Vinyl is sharp, durable through a season of washing, and it's what makes a jersey feel like theirs: nothing beats a kid seeing their name across the back.

The classic setup: screen print the team logo front and center — that's where bulk pricing does its work — then vinyl press each player's name and number on the back. Personalization exactly where it counts.

One planning note: team orders work on a 12-piece minimum, which almost every roster clears without thinking about it. If your squad is smaller, round out the run with coach shirts and a few spirit-wear tees for parents.

Collect sizes the smart way

Don't chase sixteen families by text. Send one link with a deadline (a free Google Form works great) asking for: player name, number preference, adult/youth size. Two reminders, then order what you have — there will always be one late family, and a single extra jersey can usually be added via heat press even after the main run.

Sizing tip: youth sizes run small and kids grow mid-season. When in doubt, size up. An oversized jersey gets grown into; a tight one gets complained about.

Spirit wear: the easy fundraiser hiding in plain sight

Parents, grandparents, and siblings want gear with the team name on it. A simple spirit-wear add-on — tees, hoodies, maybe a cap — sold at a few dollars over cost can fund your end-of-season party or next year's equipment. Take pre-orders with your size form so you print exactly what's sold: zero leftover inventory, zero risk.
